Super Sweet Speedway Races

The magnolias are in bloom, humidity is near 100% and the only real relief comes with a cocktail umbrella. This can only mean one thing: Summer is around the corner and nothing says “solstice” in New Orleans like go-go boots and Elvis!

Come out, June 6th at 2PM in Audubon Park and cheer on
The Big Easy Rollergirls as they participate in the inaugural “Super Sweet Speedway." It will be an afternoon of races and revelry hosted by the incomparable Candy Girls and the always-dashing Krewe of the Rolling Elvi.

The rollergirls will be competing against other groups such as,
The Pussyfooters, and The Bearded Oysters, as well as The Candy Girls and The Elvi.

Each group will be participating in a variety of madcap races: Sack Race, Three-Legged Race, Orange Pass, Dizzy Izzy, Flippy Cup, and Tug of War. And they will be doing all of this in wigs, costumes, fishnets, and other accessories of the mirthful persuasion.

Food and social elixir will be generously provided:
NOLA Brewery is donating 2 kegs, Acme Oyster House is donating jambalaya/chips, and Welty's Deli is donating sandwiches.

The events take place at Shelter #12. Shelter #12 is the shelter closest to the corner of St. Charles and Walnut.

All proceeds benefit
Raintree Children and Family Services of New Orleans, a non-profit social service organization that serves families in New Orleans. Come out and celebrate a good cause and rejoice in all that is summer!
