ANTIGRAVITY: is proud to announce the ALTERNATIVE MEDIA EXPO is set for Saturday, February 23rd at the warehouse in the Contemporary Arts Center! from 12PM to 7PM. The cover is $5.
The AME is in its sixth edition and features over 85 exhibitors with 'zines, comics, films, crafts, photography and handmade clothing, independent record labels and artists with CDs and records, indie and grassroots organizations, filmmakers and much more!
The AME is sponsored by Antigravity Magazine, Charitable Film Network, Defend New Orleans, Dirty Coast, The New Orleans Craft Mafia and Static TV.
The first 150 paid attendees will receive a free swag bag created by the Craft Mafia.
The goal of the Expo is to provide media-makers an opportunity to network while exposing attendees to product and another art forms that doesn’t receive much attention from mainstream media.
The special guests of the Expo are Brooklyn, NY artist Josh Neufeld (the artist of A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge [a comic strip that follows six real New Orleanians through their Katrina experiences and published at SMITHmag.net] and contributor to Harvey Pekar’s infamous American Splendor comic) and Deborah Cotton (self-published author of "Notes From New Orleans"). Other notable exhibitors include IDW Comics artist Kody Chamberlain (30 Days Of Night, Tag, Punks: The Comic), Ashe' Cultural Arts Center, Backporch Revolution, Constance, The Iron Rail Bookstore/Library, NOLA Fugees.com, 504Whatstyle, Caesar Meadows and many more.
Also featured is a line-up of films by Jason Affolder, Terror Optics, DNO Video and others.
