Get Ready to Rollerbull!

Look out! This rollergirl is excited to break out the bat this Saturday! I've been crafting my horns and juicing up the bat all week. The annual Running of the bulls is going to be awesome!

It goes down this Saturday (July 9th) at 8am. Runners take off from Ernst Cafe in the CBD. Come check it out!


Also, congrats to our Crescent Wenches who road tripped up to Lafayette this past weekend to meet the Acadiana Rollergirls on their home turf. What else is there to say... the Wenches brought home the boudin!

But that wasn't the only derby action to go down! In fact BERG has been jetsetting this month. Two weekends before, both the All Stars and the Wenches traveled up to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on the Hard Knox Rollergirls.

Both teams played hard... real meaning was brought to the term "blood on the flat track." In the end, the Hard Knox All Stars bested BERG, but the Crescent Wenches came out ahead of the Hard Knox Brawlers. Great derby all around!

As if that wasn't enough derby (and let's be honest, is there such a thing as "enough derby"), just one weekend before that the Wenches were on the track against our nearby rivals, the Pearl River Derby Swamp Dolls! After another hard fought evening of derby madness, the Wenches did the home team proud ending with the win!

Wow! That's a lot of derby! After this whirlwind month of hits, whips and jams I just want to state for the record,"I've got Wench Love!" Do you?

The next home bout is Saturday July 23rd. The BERG All-Stars are taking on the Dixie Derby Girls Raging Rockets of Huntsville, Alabama. Check out the action at the UNO Human Performance Center. Doors at 6pm. Action at 7pm.

Whew! It's been a busy couple weeks for BERG! So here's a quick wrap up...

The All Stars are rock stars... 'nuff said. In a nail biter of a bout, the All Stars bested out the New Jax City Rollers of Jacksonville 121 to 119. Holy Smokes! It came down to the very last Jam. Coalminer Slaughter showed us the meaning of grace under pressure gaining lead jammer and cinching the win!

Congrats to two debut skaters who made their BERG premier in the May 15th bout between The Crescent Wenches and the Molly Rogers Roller Girls. Sadist Hawkins and Lezbionic brought the pain in a hard scrabble match up!

But that's not enough derby! The All Stars took it on the road to bout against the Mississippi Rollergirls of Gulfport on May 21st. There was worry that Judgement Day might cut the action short, but lucky for us, we brought some divine intervention!

But BERG is more than just skating! We support many other athletic endeavors. Like running... with beer! Friday May 20th, BERG was out in force pouring brews for thirsty runners in the Tchoupitoulas Bar-a-thon!

Runners dashed a six mile course starting and ending at Le Bon Temps Roule on Magazine. We helped make sure their cups never ran dry!

Double Header Decimation!

This Saturday, April 16th is our Season Opener against Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls! First the Big Easy All Stars take on the Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls Flatliners, followed by the Crescent Wenches battling it out with the Bleeding Heartland Code Blue Assassins!

Doors open at 5:00pm, Action starts at 6:00pm!
Tickets are $12 in ADVANCE and $15 at the door. Youngsters 12 and under get in for $6.

Saturday, October 16th watch The Crescent Wenches take on Pearl River Roller Derby of Mississippi for a real Southern throwdown.

Our charity this month is Planned Parenthood, whose goal is to ensure that every individual has the information, services, and freedom to make healthy, responsible decisions about sex, sexuality, and parenthood.

Both skating and non-skating positions are open to guys and girls - and if you want to skate, they will teach you how! For skating refs you must have eagle-eyes, booming voices, and basic skating skills. They are also looking for dedicated, non-skating officials who can help keep detailed statistics. For these positions you are required to have a keen mind, loud voice and basic math skills (no counting on the fingers).




This Sunday, October 17th at 4:30pm at Pho King/Lost Love Lounge at 2529 Dauphine (Corner of Franklin & Dauphine in the Bywater).

The 12th man is a term commonly used to describe the fans within a stadium during football (soccer) or American football games. Since most football leagues allow a maximum of eleven players per team on the playing field at a time, the term denotes the attempt of a team’s fans to help their team. Fundraiser for MS

The Big Easy Rollergirls and The Rolling Elvi are once again climbing on their bikes and joining forces to raise money for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society in their Louisiana Bike MS event. Our fearless BERG and Elvi will ride 150 miles in two days in an attempt to eradicate this debilitating disease.

On Friday, September 24th they will be hosting a fundraiser at Finn McCools located at 3701 Banks Street. They will have a bevy of games: Full-Contact musical chairs, Flip Cup, Twister, Jeopardy, and The Dating Game with BERG and Elvi!

They will also have a raffle and silent auction with many wonderful prizes such as a Jamis Commuter 2.0 Bike, a Paris Parker Gift Certificate, Air hockey table, Fine Art Pieces and much much more.

Fleur de Lethal, who also participated in last year's run, states, As a derby player, 80% of the time it's about getting up after getting knocked out of bounds. It's part of the game I choose to play. For someone with MS, getting knocked out of bounds is not something cured. It affects every aspect of their life, it's unpredictable and it wasn't asked for. I've registered for the MS Bike Tour because I want to do something for the people who have been diagnosed - and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from learning what it means to live with this disease.

Rematch Bout!

This Saturday, September 11th the Crescent Wenches face off against one their regional rival, the Red Stick Roller Derby All-Stars of Baton Rouge.



Last time, Red Stick was triumphant over the Wenches 144-100 but the Wenches have been tightening their screws and are ready for a rematch!

The battle takes place at the Human Performance Center on the University of New Orleans Campus, located at the corner of Elysian Fields and Leon C. Simon Drive.

Doors open at 6:00 pm, action starts at 7.

Advance tickets are available ONLINE for $12 or $15 at the door. Kids 6 and under are free, and 12 and under are $6.

This Saturday, August 28th The BERG Allstars and Crescent Wenches mix it up on the track as the Shrimp v. Oysters in a bout to benefit the Coalition to Restore Coastal LA.


This epic seafood showdown on skates takes place at UNO's Human Performance Center located at the corner of Leon C. Simon and Elysian Fields.

The doors open at 6PM and action starts at 7PM.

Tickets are $12 IN ADVANCE ONLINE, $15 at the door, and $6 for kids 12 and under.

Our 2009 Fleur de Wheelie Volunteer of the Year Winner, Frank Hopkins will be generously shaving off his locks at halftime to benefit our beautiful Gulf Coast.
