Crusty's Art Show!

On June 5th at LeMieux Galleries on 332 Julia Street from 6 to 8PM, our very own Crusty McKnuckle will have her opening for her curated show, "Growing Pains."

I have always been attracted to art that contemplates themes of childhood from the whimsical to the somewhat twisted. When I was considering how to mark my tenth anniversary with the gallery I thought this would be a perfect theme for a show. Growing Pains reflects upon growing up: the good and the bad. Some of the works reveal artists’ childhood memories while others draw on fictional narratives of youth

Crusty took this opportunity to include artists who have never shown at LeMieux Galleries and a few artists that live outside of the gulf coast region.

Come out and enjoy a wonderful night of art and as a bonus, see what makes Crusty tick!

The Battle of The Big Easy Rollergirls

In 2005 we took a little trip
Scattered all across the country up the mighty Mississip
We brought along our wheels and we packed up all our dreams
And we beat that bitch Katrina and came back to New Orleans

CHORUS:
We formed our pack and the skaters kept a-comin’
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired our jammer through and she began a-pumpin’
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

We strapped on our roller skates before the banks were dry
And BERG was up and rolling through Hell and Water High
At the World of Mardi Gras BERG founded all her teams
With axle-grease and glory, the pride of New Orleans

CHORUS:
We formed our pack and the skaters kept a-comin’
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired our jammer through and she began a-jumpin’
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

BERG skated ‘cross the country a-whoopin’ all the teams
If not out on the skate rink, then always in our dreams.
If points be scored with fashion, and jams be won by style
BERG would be number one of WFTDA’S rank and file…

CHORUS:
We formed our pack and the skaters kept a-comin’
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired our jammer through and she began a-slammin’
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

Yeah, we skated through the sprains, and we skated through the bruises
And we skated through the blisters, but we kept our asses low
We skated so fast that the Devil couldn’t catch us
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

Our girls are everywhere, all over New Orleans
Our legend keeps a-growing, there’s not stopping this machine.
Lawyers doctors writers singers fighters on four wheels
Representing, ever growing, BERG it is for real

CHORUS:
We formed our pack and the skaters kept a-comin’
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired our jammer through and she began a-scorin’
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

Yeah, we skated through the sprains, and we skated through the bruises
And we skated through the blisters, but we kept our asses low
We skated so fast that the Devil couldn’t catch us
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico
