Help The Big Easy Rollergirls Beat MS!

Eight of New Orleans’ own Big Easy Rollergirls have taken a pledge to participate in a 150-mile bike ride over two days to help fight multiple sclerosis. duMaine Attraction, MILF Duds, Trixie la Femme, LaBelle ReBelle, Victoria von Doom, Jaz Lounge, Fleur d’Lethal, and rookie Erin P. will be riding from Hammond, La to McComb, Miss. in the MS Bike Tour on October 3-4, 2009.

So far, their team has raised almost 15 percent of their total fundraising goal.

Team captain, duMaine Attraction discusses the effects of multiple sclerosis: “Having multiple sclerosis means that you may suddenly have blurry vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. Or that you may not always be able to walk, let alone ride a bike. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.”

The team’s fundraising efforts will go toward supporting research projects, education programs and other special projects designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

If you’d like to get involved, the Big Easy Rollergirls’ team would love for you to join them on their ride, make a donation online or to one of their team members, or to become a sponsor of the MS Bike Tour.

They will also be accepting donations at this year's Fleur de Wheelie Awards held Saturday, August 22nd at Finn McCools on 3701 Banks St from 6pm to 11pm.
